One photo shows final preparation for the Mercury-Redstone MR-3 May 5, 1961 suborbital flight of USN LCDR Alan B. Shepard. The 2nd photo shows USAF Captain Virgil I. "Gus" Grissom at the Chrysler Corporation plant in with Mercury-Redstone MR-4.

March 6, 2011 I have started to edit and reorganize the Slide Show, with the goal of combining underutilized Folders (Directories), and dividing others into more managable sizes, This will be an ongoing effort for a while.

On Page 15 Appendix C: at the end of Article No. 6 REDSTONE REORGANIZED I added a link to a .pdf of Special Orders Number 217, which was provided to me by Bob Chesebro who served in HQ Battery, 46th Artillery Group. This is the document that reorganized 46th Group into a Redstone Battalion.

I am still on the lookout for the comparible document issued by HQ 40th Artillery Group.

April 1, 2011 Added 1 additional photo of a Redstone trainer exercise conducted by Battery A, 4th Missile Battalion, 333rd Artillery, 209th Artillery Group (Redstone) at Fort Sill, Oklahoma in February 1959 to Slide Show Redstone Miscellaneous Folder Page 5.

April 13, 2011 Added REDSTONE FLIGHT TEST EVALUATION REPORT OF REDSTONE MISSILE 2014 September 1960 in PDF format. The document can also be accessed via the link on Page 16 Appendix D: Redstone Missile Videos under the video of Redstone Block II Tactical Missile No. CC-2014 ASP firing.
April 25, 2011 Added very interesting comments received from CWO W3 (Retired) Robert A. Neff about his role in 630th Ordnance Company to Page 11 Addendum: under the section 630th Ordnance Company at the bottom of the page, with a link to Robert's additional comments on the U.S. Army in Germany web site.
April 28, 2011 Added an Associated Press wire story dated May 16, 1958 describing the first launch of a Redstone missile by a troop unit, Battery A of 40th Artillery Group at Cape Canaveral, Florida. Follow the link in the third paragraph under A Brief History of Battery A and 40th Artillery Group on Page 6 Overseas Duty.

I am continuing to edit and reorganize the Slide Show, with the goal of combining underutilized Folders (Directories), and dividing others into more managable sizes, This will be an ongoing effort for a while.

I created a new Slide Show Folder called Redstone Tests and Derivatives, which will now house the photos of testing at Cape Canaveral, White Sands Missile Range, Johnston Island, and Woomera, Australia; and, includes Project Mercury-Redstone photos, Redstone Hardtack atomic tests photos, and Redstone WRESAT photos.

I next altered and scaled back the size of the existing Redstone Miscellaneous Folder.

May 22, 2011 Added 4 photos provided by Art LeBrun to Page 4 of the Slide Show Redstone Tests and Derivatives Folder. Two are of the first Australian Redstone-Sparta missile, and two are of the Australian Redstone-Sparta WRESAT satellite launch vehicle CC-2029.
May 24, 2011 Added 2 photos to Page 2 of the Slide Show Redstone Miscellaneous Folder of a 1/24 scale model Redstone tactical missile that I just took delivery of. The model was hand carved out of mahogany in the Philippines.
June 14, 2011 Added a video to Page 16 Appendix D: Redstone Missile Videos showing the November 29, 1967 launch of the Australian WRESAT satellite with Redstone-Sparta CC-2029. The video was sent to me by Art LeBrun.
July 8, 2011 Added an image of a Cutaway Schematic with missile dimensions and stations produced by the ABMA on 30 October 1957 entitled Redstone MISSILE to Page 12 Appendix A: The Redstone Missile in Detail under the section Characteristics.

September 19, 2011 Added a most interesting document, a yearbook for 1st Battalion, 333d Artillery published in the Spring of 1964, to a new section at the bottom of Page 11 Addendum titled 1st Battalion, 333d Artillery Yearbook 1964. The document was shared with me by Mike Parker, who as 2nd Lieutenant Mike Parker was Battery A's last Executive Officer in the Spring of 1964.
September 20, 2011 Added a photo of the launch of Redstone tactical missile CC-1010 on January 19, 1959 at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico by troops of 209th Artillery Group (Redstone) to the Slide Show Redstone Miscellaneous Folder Page 3.

September 27, 2011 Added a new photo to Slide Show 40th Artillery Group Folder Page 1 showing Redstone missile CC-1004 being prepared for flight by troops of Battery B, 217th Field Artillery Missile Battalion, attached to the 40th Artillery Group at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico on June 2, 1958. CC-1004 was the first Redstone launched by troops under field conditions, and counted as Battey B's qualification launch before its deployment to Germany.

Added an 85 page PDF of the October 1958 Chrysler Corporation Redstone and Jupiter Ballistic Missiles Manufacturing Facilities document. The document can be accessed via the thumbnail at the bottom of Page 14 Appendix B.

October 4, 2011: 50th anniversary of my original Rotation Date of October 4, 1961. Thanks to the Berlin Wall, I didn't quite make it. Missed it by 4 days. President Kennedy extended all personnel in Germany an additional four months as of October 1, 1961.
